Abstract The maximum caliber approach implements the entropy principle for trajectories by maximizing a path under external constraints. can be applied to diverse set of equilibrium and non-equilibrium problems concerning properties connecting different states system. In this review, we recapitulate basic concepts its implementation ensembles, review recent applications approach. particular, describe how recently used introduce framework, called here continuum ensemble (CoPE-MaxCal) method, impose kinetic constraints in molecular simulations, instance include experimental information about transition rates. Such incorporation dynamical ameliorate inaccuracies empirical force fields, lead improved mechanistic insights. We conclude offering an outlook future research. Graphic
